IBDA BOARD OF GOVERNORS CANDIDATES FILE OVER 300 NOMINATING PETITIONS WITH NASDNovember 9th, 1998 |

The Independent Broker-Dealer Association, Inc. (IBDA) officially filed 309 nominating petitions for its independent slate of candidates for the upcoming December 1998 NASD Board of Governors election. Additional petitions are still being received at IBDA and will be filed accordingly. Under the NASD's election rules, for a candidate to appear on the organization's ballot, three percent of the Executive Representatives of the members -- 167 signatures out of the NASD's 5,570 active members -- must sign a nominating petition. IBDA, in conjunction with the California Association of Independent Broker Dealers (CAIBD), launched a grassroots campaign to secure nominating petitions and quickly obtained the minimum number of nominating signatures.
