Alan Davidson has been in the investment business for thirty-four years. Alan was a First Vice President of a major brokerage company, specializing in fixed income investments. In 1988, Alan founded Zeus Securities, Inc., an investment firm specializing in full financial services, including fixed income management for individuals and institutions.

Alan Davidson serves as President of the Independent Broker-Dealer Association (IBDA), which was incorporated in 1991 under the former name of the Long Island Broker-Dealer Association as a Not-For-Profit Professional Association. IBDA has 215 members in 17 states and maintains a strategic alliance with the California Association of Independent Broker Dealers (CAIBD), which has 85 members

District Business Conduct Committeeperson

As a former elected member of the NASD District No. 10 Business Conduct Committee, Alan presided over disciplinary hearings involving allegations of compliance violations. District No. 10 comprises the metropolitan New York area and includes in excess of 1,300 member firms and their employees. During his tenure at the NASD, Alan was in the forefront of industry reform, advocating policies and procedures promoting more professional standards and equanimity in the NASD's dealings with its members. He suggested creation of the District 10 News, a publication designed to educate and alert NASD members to potential compliance problems. Alan also testified before the SEC and the NASD's Rudman commission regarding problems in the securities industry and constructive solutions to those matters. Among Alan's more creative suggestions was the creation of an NASD Ombudsman, which was subsequently supported by the Rudman Commission and adopted by the NASD.


Background

Alan Davidson graduated C.W. Post College and has served as President of the Alumni Association and Secretary-Treasurer of the Alumni Federation.

Alan is considered to be an expert in the fixed income field and a nationally recognized advocate of the interests of independent/regional broker-dealers. He is frequently quoted in various media sources. Additionally, he lectured to members of the International Association of Financial Planners and participated as a guest at the Presidents' Round Table. Alan will continue his efforts to expand IBDA into a national organization, and will build upon the relationship he has established with CAIBD.
